ITALOZAZEN syncretic expressionism.
Welcome to the intellectual and artistic haven that is Italozazen—a space where the realms of philosophy, social science, and art converge. Nestled on the periphery of Townsville in the dry tropics of Australia, this studio serves as both a workshop and a crucible of ideas, helmed by Mr. Italo Giardina.
A philosopher by education and an experimentalist at heart, Mr. Giardina is a major in Philosophy and holds a post-graduate degree in Social Science. His work in mixed media art is a conceptual exploration—each piece a tangible manifestation of abstract thought, inspired by philosophical underpinnings. Drawing on a rich academic background, his art projects are experimental forays into various forms of media, striving to capture the essence of complex ideas, much like Wittgenstein’s efforts to map the limits of language or the Upanishads’ quests to understand the nature of reality.
It is here, amidst the ebb and flow of thought and form, that you’ll find a blend of artistic expression and intellectual inquiry, woven together in an intricate tapestry of mixed media creations. Welcome to Italozazen, where each piece is an invitation to ponder, question, and engage with the world in a profoundly enriched way.
Feel free to explore and immerse yourself in this unique amalgamation of art and thought.
